The amazing colors are from smoke in the air. When we were coming in on the train, many of the rice fields were burning. It looks like they burn the fields and then turn them over and plant a new crop. Apparently this is the worst time of year for the smoke/haze.
Very pretty pictures! I thought that was morning fog or mist until I read your comment about the haze/smoke...does the city have a polluted smell or affect your allergies?
there's not much of a smell...maybe a little like smoke. and yes for my first 2-3 weeks in Thailand I had a lingering sore throat. its been about 6 weeks now and I guess i've adapted because it doesn't seem to effect me anymore...
